What is Caramoor?
Lawyer, businessman, and philanthropist Walter Tower Rosen purchased the Caramoor estate in 1928 to build a summer home. In 1945 Walter, and his wife Lucie Bigelow Rosen, bequeathed the Caramoor estate to the public as a center for music and art. The estate was previously owned by Caroline Moore Hoyt, and is named Caramoor after her.

What kind of music is played at Caramoor and are there year-round events?
Caramoor is best known for the summer International Music Festival, but exciting events are happening here year-round. Visit us in the fall and spring as well for our Great Artist series and Caramoor Classics concerts. Click here for upcoming concerts to discover all that is happening at Caramoor. Enjoy the world's greatest classical, cabaret, opera and jazz performances playing right in your back yard.

Where can I find directions to Caramoor and what about parking?
Caramoor is located at 149 Girdle Ridge Road, Katonah NY 10536 in Westchester County 40 miles northeast of NYC. Click here for door-to-door driving directions.

All parking is free, and there is ample parking for all events on our grounds. Please allow enough time to park your car before a performance. Friends of Caramoor members at the Participant ($300) level or above can take advantage of priority parking in Friends’ Field. To learn more about becoming a member, click here.

What if it rains?
We don't cancel because of rain. Our Venetian Theater offers protection from the elements. In the event of rain or extreme heat, performances scheduled for the Spanish Courtyard will be moved to the Venetian Theater, and all seating will become general admission.

What will we eat?
During the summer Festival bring a picnic and enjoy the grounds before a performance or pre-purchase your picnic with our official caterer, Great Performances, by calling 212.337.6055 by Tuesday at 5:00pm for the upcoming weekend. To view this season's picnic menu and place an order online click here.  Cooking is not permitted on the Caramoor grounds, nor is post-concert picnicking.

Prix fixe buffet dinners provided by Great Performances are available to supporters of Caramoor at the Donor ($600) level and above pre-concert on Saturdays and post-concert on select Sundays during th Festival. Dinners are served in the Symphony Court, adjacent to the vine-covered Italian Pavilion and the enchanting Butterfly Garden. Reservations are required. In addition, refreshments are available at the Venetian Theater Circle, and on the main walkway opposite the Rosen House before all concerts and during intermissions throughout the Festival.

Is Caramoor family-friendly?
Yes! Our grounds are kid-friendly and we have events geared for families through out the year. Check out our Family Fun page for more info. Click here for recommended ages of children attending our concerts.

Can I bring my dog?
Pets are not permitted at Caramoor! We love them, but they belong at home.

Is there a charge to just walk the grounds?
Admission to the grounds is free with a concert ticket. Otherwise, the fee is $10 per person payable at the Box Office. The grounds are closed January through April and will reopen on April 26th. The grounds will then be open during Box Office business hours.

Is Caramoor a non-profit organization?
Yes! Caramoor is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Ticket sales cover only 25% the cost of presenting exciting, year-round music and maintaining our beaufiful estate. The generosity of our supporters is essential to sustain and nurture Caramoor. To learn more about supporting this cultural treasure click here.

Is Caramoor handicapped accessible?
Yes. Visitors with disabilities should call the Box Office at 914.232.1252 to arrange seating for Caramoor performances and events. We also have parking available for visitors with disabilities. Upon your arrival please advise a parking attendant that you need to be directed to the handicap parking lot.

Caramoor has an infrared assistive listening system for the hearing impaired that may be picked up from the Box Office prior to concerts and lectures (this is only available in the Venetian Theater).

I am having problems purchasing tickets online. What should I do?
Call the Box Office at 914.232.1252 Monday through Friday, 10:00am - 4:00pm. Or email us at boxoffice@caramoor.org during Box Office hours and we will get back to you shortly.

Do you sell gift certificates?
Gift certificates are available for any amount and may be obtained by calling the Box Office at 914.232.1252. Gift certificates are good for one year from the date of issuance and may be renewed at the request of the holder.

Are Caramoor's facilities available for rentals?
Caramoor has a limited number of dates available for Weddings and Corporate Events each year. Click here to learn more about fees and facilities.
